2 Vital Practices For A Harmonious Day, Week or Year

Stress is the ultimate joy killer on the planet. It rips the smile off your face and even speeds up the aging process in our bodies. Nasty, right? The good thing is that stress relies heavily on perspective and there are real, tangible steps we can take each day for more harmony (and less stress) in our lives. Here are two:

1. Use your voice

The written word is a powerful thing and journaling is an effective tool that gets that jumble of thoughts and worries out of your head and on to paper where you can approach it from a new angle. Set aside just ten minutes each morning or night (or both!) and write your thoughts. Follow them even if they don’t make sense—write for ten minutes without stopping about what’s on your mind, what’s bothering you or what you’re excited about. Ten minutes. No more. No less. When you’re done, put it away until the next day and enjoy the mental clarity you’ve just earned.

2. Practice using the most powerful word on the planet

No. It’s such a simple word, yet so many of us can’t, for the life of us, use it effectively. We overschedule. Over commit. Over do. For one of the easiest ways to get a little more harmony in your life, learn to say no and protect your boundaries, your personal space and your free time. No isn’t easy, but it does get easier the more you practice gently telling others that you’re unavailable.
